Let's take a look on a brief BACKGROUND and HISTORY of my municipality. 



The City of MANDAUE



I. Geographic Profile

                  Mandaue, officially the City of Mandaue (CebuanoDakbayan sa Mandaue, FilipinoLungsod ng Mandaue) and often referred to as Mandaue City, is a city in the province of Cebu in the Philippines. It is one of the three highly urbanized cities on the island and forms a part of the Cebu Metropolitan Area. Mandaue City is located on the middle eastern coastal region of Cebu, bordering to its right-side are Mactan Island where Lapu-Lapu City is located. Mandaue is connected to Mactan Island via two bridges which includes the Mactan-Cebu Bridge and Marcelo Fernan Bridge. And is bounded south and the west by the Provincial Capital, Cebu City and north by Consolacion which is linked with Cansaga Bay Bridge. The city has an area of 2,518 hectares (6,220 acres) with a total population of 331,320 people as of the 2010 census.

The City Mayor

        Cortes is the 13th child of the former mayor of Mandaue Demetrio Cortes Sr. and Celestina Alimpangog Cabungcal. He is of Filipino, Spanish and Chinese ancestry. He was born and raised in Centro, Mandaue. Cortes attended St. Joseph's Academy for Grade school in 1972-78 and in St Louis high school on 1978-82 both in Mandaue. He graduated from Visayas State University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Husbandry. He married Sarah Walker-Cortes, with whom he has two children, Dmitri and Mikyla.

Mandaue Presidencia


        The Mandaue City Hall, commonly referred to as Mandaue Presidencia, is a Neo-Grec style building that serves as the seat of government for the city of Mandaue in Cebu, Philippines. The building found in the heart of the city was first used as the office of Mandaue's El Presidente or mayor since the Commonwealth Era.

        The Official Seal of Mandaue was updated in 1999 to reflect the contemporary vision and challenges of the highly urbanized locality. While retaining the Bantayan saHari and the gear, new elements were added such as the glob, the Marcelo Fernan Bridge, and the 27 stars representing the Barangays of the City.



CHANGES

        Nothing in this world is permanent except change. Changes happened everytime. I'm from Mandaue City, I've been living here since I was in my mother's womb. I have always admire this municipality. But now given the chance to say what I've observed in this municipality where I live. I will tell everything that I've observed. In the previous years of my life I'm not an observant, I didn't care whats happening in my municipality but now I learned how to observe.
        Lets go to the main point. Here are the changes I've observed.

  1. Roads have been repaired and asphalted.
  2. Culverts are placed and improvement of drainage
  3. Lamp post in our streets were added.
  4. Segregation of garbage is strictly implemented.
  5. Tree planting program and clean-up in the Butuanon River.
  6. New traffic system.
  7. The BARANGAYAN Service Project.
  8. Feeding Programs in barangays
